Welcome to Lavenham
Britain’s finest medieval village
The Lavenham Literary Festival is an organisation run entirely by volunteers which celebrates the joy of reading and encourages a love of the written and spoken word. It has been running since 2009 and has grown into a highly regarded biennial event, with the popular Lavenham Literary Festival Dinner taking place annually.

It brings together well regarded authors to introduce their work, in a friendly and relaxed environment in various venues around Lavenham, with the village hall being the main stage. Attracting audiences from East Anglia and further afield, the festival gives people the opportunity to discover both established and emerging writers, against the backdrop of Lavenham and the surrounding hills of Suffolk.
About us
We are all volunteers with a passion for the literary arts, and would love you to come and join our friendly team. You can help us in planning the festival, which starts a year ahead of the event, or in the run-up to the event, or of course during the Festival weekend itself!
Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
